Concert promoted by the Città metropolitana di Milano in collaboration with Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, as part of the Milano Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad.
14 February 2026, 5:00 pm | Sala Verdi, Milan Conservatory

On the occasion of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, the Metropolitan City of Milan and the Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica e Coro Sinfonico di Milano G. Verdi present an event of profound artistic and symbolic significance: a performance of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, conducted by Maestro Emmanuel Tjeknavorian.

Already chosen by the European Union as its official anthem, Schiller’s Ode to Joy, set to music by Beethoven in the final movement of the Ninth Symphony, embodies the highest values of peace, brotherhood, and unity among peoples. A unity that also embraces all forms of diversity, as sung by the Choir in the Andante maestoso of the final movement: “Embrace one another, you millions! This kiss is for the whole world!”
